When Amos' messenger is murdered, the letter goes astray as a monk, Brother Malcolm, attempts to deliver it without any idea which Kynyr Maguire it goes to. The letter holds the key to Malthus' efforts to take over the town of Hell's Widow and decimate the lycan community there.
