The following is a set of submission guidelines for Daverana Enterprises. For the time being all anthologies will be done in house, so short stories will only be considered during announced submission calls.
We are a gayfriendly publisher. Fiction featuring gay characters is as welcome as any and will be judged on its own merits as fiction. While we have no problem with an occasional sex scene, it should not be gratutious. If it serves the plotline or characterization, then we have no problem with it. However, sex for the sake of titilation will result in a quick rejection.
The exception to this is rule is erotica. query janraefrank@daverana.com before submitting erotica.
WHAT WE WANT (FICTION)
- Romance including Paranormal Romance
- Action, well paced
- Westerns
- SF / H / Fantasy / Dark Fantasy / S&S (this includes Cyberpunk and Steampunk)
- Mystery
- Edgy, Dark Fiction
- Adventure
- Humor
- Epic or Genre Poetry
- Erotica must be within a genre setting
- Any workable permutations/combinations of the above are fine.
We are doing both print and ebook publication.
Length
Short Books: 10k to 30k
Novels: 40k to 125k (query if longer)
Collections: 40k minimum.

WHAT WE DON'T WANT
- Novelizations of your D&D campaign.
- Excessive narratives in any genre that overburden the reader. Twenty pages of narrative to a page and a half of action and dialog isn't going to work.
- Mainstream Literary Fiction
- New Age, Spiritual
- Self Help
Manuscript Guidelines
GENERAL
- Please query before submitting.
- Place contact info at the head of your manuscript.
- No hard copy submissions.
- All submissions will be in a clear, uncramped font, preferably 12 pt. (Times New Roman is ok, Courier New or the like is better)
- I prefer complete manuscripts for submissions. This may change as time goes on but for now I prefer complete documents for review purposes.
- All submissions as attachments to an email. No submission in the body of an email will be accepted.
- The file format you use is up to you to a point. Know however that I use Word and OpenOffice.org (Relax Wordperfect users, OpenOffice.org speaks fluent .WPD). If neither of these programs can read your manuscript it will be returned to you with instructions to reformat and resubmit.
- All submissions will be double spaced. Have pity on my poor editor's eyes.
- Make an effort to respect your form of choice. Any manuscript that has obviously not been properly spell checked and/or formatted will be rejected without an explanation.
